With assistance from FACTOR, On Your Radio was recorded at Stove Studio, in Chelsea Quebec with owner James Stephens.
Each band member brought their unique backgrounds to this project. Stylistically, the songs recorded range from reggae to jazz to folk to Latin to African, frequently a blend of these sounds. Language-wise, there are songs in Portuguese, English, French and many West African languages, including Mina, Fon, Yorouba and Dendi—a real United Nations of music!
The CD includes several guest spots by Lionel Loueke (guitar and vocals), a Blue Note label recording artist who has played with Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, Jeff Ballard, Terence Blanchard, Angélique Kidjo and Richard Bona, to name a few. Local guest musicians include: Ed Lister (trumpet), a member of The Soul Jazz Orchestra, The Chocolate Hot Pockets and the Atlantis Jazz Ensemble; Mathieu N’Tifafa Mikando (trombone); Steve McKenna (slide guitar); Regina Teixeira (vocals) from Florquestra; Christine Fagan (vocals); Alise Marlane (vocals); and Karine Yobé (vocals).
MSMB band members Angel Araos and Silvio Modolo take credit for mixing the band’s sounds, while band member Loïc Martin designed the CD cover—a real team project! The CD was mastered by Studio Loco in Montreal and manufactured by Indie Pool in Toronto.

The Main Street Market Band is an Ottawa-Canada based world music quartet.
We play a mix of stuff, a blend of jazz, folk, african and latin styles of music, primarily in an acoustic format.
Band members come from Brazil, Chile, Benin and Canada.
Angel Araos is a Chilean-born percussionist whose career has spanned classical, jazz, folk, Brazilian and Cuban music. He has performed widely in Canada and South America with numerous ensembles, winning a Juno award in the "world music" category as a member of the group "Ancient Cultures."
Loïc Martin, originally from Benin, began studying guitar at the age of 8 with the strictest teacher he could have: his late father Leopold. Very soon he was interested in the mix of styles, including one where the best of jazz meets with the traditions of his native Africa. He has played in groups and and with artists such as Elage, Cheza, and the Neema Mungala band to name a few.
Silvio Modolo, originally from Brazil, has been working as studio and stage musician, producer, arranger and composer. He plays electric bass and many other instruments. In Canada he has collaborated with great artists such as Rommel Ribeiro, Florquestra, Regina Gomes Teixeira, Léonard Constant, Angel Araos, Claudia Salguero, Evandro Gracelli, Marc Decho, Rene Gely, and Jasmin Lalande.
Paul Weber is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and the founder of world music band Cheza. His music combines styles from Canada, Brazil and Africa, all places he has lived and made music.
